Hi, my name is Michelle Tan.


I'm a Seattle wedding photographer, originally from the amazing city of Jakarta, Indonesia. On weekdays I'm a data geek and a K-drama fan.

This journey started through my love for picture taking. Looking back I realized that this love started during fifth grade; my first camera was a 4.1 MP Fujifilm and back then it was THE hot item in my elementary school. Since then I've rolled through a series of cameras, and I am continually amazed at the advancement of these little things that we use to snap moments and memories. I would like this website to be a space where I can share my adventures and my love for picture taking. 


I started doing photography for couples and families in 2011, but shifted to food photography in 2014. Food photography was a lot of fun, but I quickly realized that I missed capturing the emotions and connections between people. I wanted to meet new people, hear stories and be inspired; there is always something unique and intriguing in every story. So here I am, back at capturing different people at different places, and I have no regrets.


My goal is to be able to create pictures with qualities that are so amazing that little to no editing is needed. I want my pictures to last for a long time. I want my pictures to be like a classic Chanel bag that never goes out of style. I strive to pay attention to the little details and to deliver excellence to all my photographs. During the week I am a full time data geek working for an amazing tech company. I often am asked about my opinion of pursuing my passion as a side job and not a main job. A post by Darling Magazine explains this well:


"Pursuing your passion in the margins. We tend tot think that with ample time comes ample opportunity, but what if having less time for something we love actually makes us better at it?... those hours in the margins are often charged with the electricity of a soul on fire, a soul finally getting to release her passion onto the canvas, or on the page, or into the dance. Deep creativity is born in that place".

Hi, my name is Sean Tan.


I am Michelle's partner (and husband!). I am Michelle's partner in her photography journey. I really like Coffee. and Jazz music. And Netflix. And Ohio State football.

At Sancii, my role is to ensure that every step you take will be a memorable experience with the least amount of stress possible. We know that weddings are stressful, there are enough things that you need to worry about, and photography should not be one of them! I love a saying from Maya Angelou that says, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” My hope is that our pictures evoke unforgettable feelings about your unique story. Michelle and Sean were dedicatedly thorough with communication, addressing all of our concerns down to the silliest of questions we had (like, last minute selfies + “SOS! should I wear this dress or that dress for this part of the shoot?” the night before we had to fly off :P —thank you Michelle! Michelle and Sean are a delight to work with! They made sure to get to know us as a couple before the shoot to capture the essence of who we are and show that through their pictures. I am beyond satisfied with the pictures that they took during our reception: the lighting, mood, and details were all perfect. They also worked so hard to get all of our pictures to us even before the expected date!

We recently had our engagement photoshoot with Michelle and Sean in Grand Canyon, Arizona. At first, we were hesitant to do the shoot in a place where we’ve never been before because we didn’t know what to expect when it comes to the location, crowd, lighting, etc. But after connecting with Michelle, we felt at peace and confident because Michelle was not only knowledgable but she also did some extra research about the place and walked us through everything step-by-step and she listened to what we wanted!
